The new joint venture develops “living safety”. Its technologies are designed to learn and adapt to advanced threats. Trellix has approximately 5,000 employees and annual sales of nearly $2 billion.

Symphony Technology Group (STG), which acquired McAfee Enterprise for $4 billion last March and FireEye for $1.2 billion in June, has given the resulting joint venture a new name. The two cyber security companies, which have been operating under one roof since October, are now trading under the Trellix name.

According to STG, the company will focus on detecting and responding to threats using machine learning and automation. Trellix says it will develop what can be described as “living security” – security technology that learns and adapts to protect an ongoing business from the most advanced threat actors.

Not everything from McAfee Enterprise is bundled into Trellix. The Secure Service Edge portfolio, which includes Cloud Access Security Broker, Secure Web Gateway and Zero Trust Network Access, is planned to be spun off later this quarter.

Trellix will have a combined customer base of 40,000 customers. With around 5,000 employees, the security provider is aiming for sales of almost 2 billion dollars.
