The majority of companies are completely unsuspecting when it comes to emails, even if they contain sensitive information. That is at least the result of a survey of 50 European companies carried out by Content Technologies and The Bristol Group Germany, two providers of security software.
In the survey, 61 percent of the executives surveyed said that they had already sent an email to the wrong address at least once.
73 percent of those surveyed said they would answer an e-mail request from a manager with a direct return e-mail without checking the sender’s address.
“The more natural it becomes that e-mails are used for daily communication with colleagues and business partners, the less companies care about who sends what information to which recipient,” said Susanne Daum, Managing Director of the Bristol Group.
